Sharon J. Castillo joined CLS in 2005, bringing to the firm over 15 years of experience in broadcast journalism and political communications, as well as a wide range of influential contacts in Republican circles and the Hispanic community.
At CLS, Ms. Castillo provides public affairs, strategic communications and crisis/litigation services to clients in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the United States. Her past and current clients include the region of Champagne, Cruise Lines International Association, Government of Ecuador, Government of Honduras, Hunt Oil, National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, Pfizer, World Bank, and a high-profile Major League Baseball player. Ms. Castillo’s crisis/litigation work involves the development and implementation of communication strategies designed to protect clients’ reputations, manage media coverage and shape public perception in high-stakes legal cases in the United States and abroad.
Before joining CLS, Ms. Castillo served as Director of Specialty Media and Spokesperson for the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign. Prior to her work with the President’s re-election effort, Ms. Castillo was Deputy Director of Communications for Outreach at the Republican National Committee (RNC). At the RNC, Ms. Castillo was responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy targeting all ethnic, religious and issue-based media outlets. She was Host and Executive Producer of Abriendo Caminos, the first national television show in Spanish produced by a national political party.
Ms. Castillo entered the world of politics after working for over 10 years in Spanish-language television. During that time, she worked for the U.S. Information Agency as well as both Spanish-language national TV networks. She was Washington Bureau Manager for Telemundo Network and prior to that produced the Sunday political show Temas y Debates for Univisión Network. Her assignments as a television producer and reporter included three U.S. presidential elections, the 2000 U.N. Millennium Summit, 1994 Summit of the Americas in Miami, and three U.N. Human Rights Commission meetings in Geneva, Switzerland.
In 1997, Ms. Castillo received a Masters Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Foreign Affairs from Georgetown University. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from American University.
