Brian Berry
Senior Vice President
Brian Berry specializes in navigating through highly adversarial environments to solve high-stakes problems. He
offers his clients nearly 10 years of diverse experience that includes
reputation management and positioning, national and state issues
advocacy, media relations, message development, public opinion
research, media training, and advertising.
Today, Mr. Berry leads CLS work with the Cruise Lines International Association. This
program, aimed at policymakers and opinion elite, counters rhetoric
from industry adversaries that for years has been the root of
contentious policy debate. Through a series of
proactive measures including a third party expert program, the CLS
campaign communicates the industry’s actions to comply with countless
international, federal, and state regulations, improve passenger
safety, and reduce cruise ship impact on the environment.
Mr. Berry
also manages a program for the Personal Watercraft Industry Association
to improve the industry’s reputation and prevent onerous public
waterways restrictions by communicating how personal watercraft
technology is cleaner and quieter. As a result, personal watercraft access has been restored in 13 national parks.
For Genworth Financial’s mortgage insurance division, Mr. Berry
has led several campaigns to inform decision makers and the media about
the role private mortgage insurance plays in providing stability and
security in the mortgage and housing sectors. He also worked on a successful legislative campaign that made mortgage insurance tax deductible for the first time ever. For
Genworth’s long term care insurance business, he leads a thought
leadership program to communicate to policymakers the role long term
care insurance plays in caring for our elderly, and in providing
financial relief to families and government programs including Medicare
and Medicaid. Mr. Berry organizes Genworth’s annual National Long Term Care Symposium on Capitol Hill in Washington.
Mr. Berry holds a B.A. in International Relations from the State University of New York, College at New Paltz. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and their son.
